moving inetpub to different drive

I found this page

It gives detailed instructions on how to move inetpub to a different drive. Something I don't understand the the author of the page put the xcopy at the bottom of the page. Shouldn't I be able to just do the xcopy to move the inetpub dir to g:\? then update the registry?
