Visual Studio - Publishing, "Delete all existing files prior to publish"

Can someone please explain to me the usefulness of allowing people the option of deleting all of their files in a folder prior to publishing, besides basically giving them rope to hang themselves?  It seems to me if someone really wanted to delete all their files prior to publishing, he/she could easily do so manually, simply by selecting all the files, right-clicking and selecting "delete" the old fashioned way.  So the value of this option is basically zero (or perhaps saving several seconds worth of one's time), and the risk is accidentally deleting an entire folder which could potentially bring a business to it's knees causing millions of dollars in lost revenue.

So what is the use of this feature?
